2008 First-Year Conference

Taking advantage of one of the first mild days of early spring, professor Jim Donnelly's history class is seen outdoors on Bascom Hill discussing Shamanism and spirit possessions. The seminar is normally held in the less than airy confines of the Mosse Humanites Building. "We know we're setting a precedent down here today and we're enjoying it," says Donnelly.

The 2008 First-Year Conference was held on October 31st, 2008 at the Pyle Center on the UW-Madison campus.  With over 184 registrants, this was the largest attended conference in our four-year history.
We welcomed Dr. Betsy Barefoot, Co-Director and Senior Scholar of the Policy Center on the First Year of College.  For those interested in reading her keynote PowerPoint, click here.

If you are interesting in being a part of the planning for the 2009 conference, please contact Adrianna Guram, Coordinator of First-Year Programs in the Center for the First-Year Experience: aguram@odos.wisc.edu.
