Jennifer L. Mnookin

Jennifer L. Mnookin is the 30th leader of the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She joined the university in August 2022 and is known as a passionate innovator with a deep commitment to excellence in education, research, and public service. Mnookin is a national expert on law, forensic science, and evidence. Prior to joining UW–Madison, she was dean of the University of California-Los Angeles School of Law and a law professor at UCLA, the University of Virginia, and Harvard University. She holds degrees from Harvard, Yale, and MIT. She is especially excited to welcome this year’s impressive incoming class to experience UW–Madison’s 175 years of traditions, extraordinary teaching and research, and a learning environment in which people of diverse background and beliefs can work together, with curiosity and respect, to innovate, solve problems, and lead.
