Orientation Programs
Congratulations, you’ve decided to become a badger! Now you’re probably wondering what the next steps are. The Center for the First-Year Experience is here to help you successfully transition to UW–Madison and put you on a path to success while you are here. We offer a variety of programs to help you on your way. Review the information below to learn more about the orientation programs at UW–Madison.

Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR)
At SOAR, you will begin your transition to UW–Madison by learning about academic advising, course enrollment, and campus resources, and by enrolling in your first semester courses.

Wisconsin Welcome
Wisconsin Welcome takes place during the first three weeks of the semester and is designed to welcome students to campus though a variety of social events and academic programs. From large events to small gatherings, there is something for everyone.

Ongoing Orientation
Orientation doesn’t stop with SOAR & Wisconsin Welcome– there are variety of required and optional ways you can continue to support your transition to UW–Madison.

Universal Education Requirements
There are three programs you are required to complete as an incoming new student. Each program has its own requirements and deadlines. More information about each requirement can be found below:

Social Media
Learn what it means to be a Badger from your fellow Badgers! Connecting with other students through Social Media is a great way to make this large university just a little smaller.
