The Center for First-Year Experience is here to help you successfully transition to UW–Madison and put you on a path to success while you are here. We offer a variety of programs to help you on your way. Review the information below to learn more about the orientation programs at UW–Madison.
Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR)
At SOAR, you will begin your transition to UW–Madison by learning about academic advising, course enrollment, and campus resources, and by enrolling in your first semester courses.
Wisconsin Welcome is designed to welcome students to campus though a variety of social events and academic programs. From large events like Night at the Overture to small gatherings like student org kickoffs, there is something for everyone.
First-Year Seminars are a great way to connect with other students and faculty/staff on campus. Most seminars are 20 or less students and meet every week throughout your first semester.
Orientation doesn’t stop with SOAR & Wisconsin Welcome there are variety of required and optional ways you can continue to support your transition to UW–Madison.
Universal Education Requirements
